Why I Threw All of My Bodybuilding Magazines in the Garbage
GQ, Glamour, Vogue, Elle... all magazines that exist to sell clothes and makeup. Even magazines like Redbook and People are there to influence you towards the sale. Advertisers hire gorgeous models, airbrush the photos so they look flawless, and then use the perfected image to sell their merchandise.
Bodybuilding magazines are similar...they exist to sell supplements. And just about every single bodybuilding/fitness publication out there is owned by a supplement company.
Have one near you? Open it up. What do you see? Photographs of lean, sexy models and bodybuilders with huge muscles. And if you listen to what the magazine is trying to tell you, than you realize that your dream body is locked up inside some liquid powder or pill. Right?
Hogwash!
Don’t believe it. Aside from a very few exceptions that I've shared (and will continue to share) with you on this website and in my newsletter, just about every new supplement that comes out promising to be the holy grail of fat loss and muscle is basically a waste of your money.
If a bodybuilding magazine spent its time teaching you how to properly eat and train, then you wouldn’t really need to buy any supplements. Nor would you have the desire. Ultimately, you wouldn’t even need to keep subscribing to the magazine and they’d be out of business.
And that’s just what these magazines are - a business.
Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against business. I'm all for capitalism and letting the market decide. But while these magazines have done some good in their part of inspiring millions, they also have mislead millions. When was the last time you ready the truth in any of these magazines....that drugs combined with fantastic genetics are responsible for what you see within their pages.
Just like the fashion model will say "it's the jeans" or "its the lipstick," the fitness model will claim their results came from supplements...BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE BEING PAID TO SAY!
When you get through all the supplement hype and check out the workout articles, it doesn't get much better. Most of them involve too much volume and will end up in a state of overtraining, injured, or at the very least with very little progress and a lot of frustration. The drug-free trainee should avoid them at all costs.
