Workout 101
Important Tips to Keep In Mind Before Starting A Workout

If you’re just getting started with your journey into the world of fitness, there are some important things that you must remember right off the bat.  Those who rush into a workout program without being fully prepared may find that they make some big mistakes along the way and fail to see the results that they were after.

Let’s have a quick peak at a few of the main tips that you need to keep in mind.

Learn Proper Form

The very first thing that you must remember as you get started with your workout program is that having good form is a must. Those who don’t use good form will either wind up injured or with a lot of effort put forth but without any results to show for it.  To prevent yourself from using improper form, take some time at the very beginning to learn good form using little to no weight while you do the exercises.

It's always a good idea to hire a professional, qualified trainer to help you get through this stage.

Get Smart About Nutrition

The next thing that you must do is make sure you get smart about your nutrition.  Making sure that you eat a good source of protein and carbs before and after a workout session will guarantee that you have enough fuel to get through that workout and that you feel your  best at all times.

If you are unsure what to eat, there are a lot of articles on this site alone that can help you. Just search the array of them listed to the left, click, read, and implement.

Have Some Good Goals Set

The third thing that you must be doing if you hope to set yourself up for success is making sure that you have some good goals set. And not just the "I want to lose some weight" type of goals.  Make it more rigid. Something measureable like "I would like to lose 10 pounds in a month." Write it down and read it daily to keep you focused, on track, and successful.

Remember The Value Of Rest

Last but not least, remember the value of rest.  If you aren’t resting enough between your workouts, you’re going to burnout very quickly and may start to get over trained. You are not progressing in the gym during the workout.  You are providing the stimulus for your body to adapt by getting better (whether that be stronger, more muscular, and/or leaner). That adaptation comes during the recovery process, so you better respect it.

So there you have the main things to consider as you go about your workout program.  By using these tips to get prepared, you can be sure you’re taking a step forward in the right direction.
