No New Year's Resolution for Me!
How I Lost 15 lbs Through The Holidays

When it comes to the New Year, I'm not much different than many of you are that may be reading this. Through the holidays I tend to workout a little less and eat a little more. After all, it's a hectic time filled with preparation and parties. It's easy to get caught up in the hoopla. And it's definitely easy to run out of energy to perform the tasks at hand.

When it's all said and done, there is usually some damage control to be done come the New Year.

BUT NOT THIS YEAR!

When 2013 rang in, not only did I not have to do any damage control, I was in better shape than when the holiday season started.

Normally when the holidays are over, I'm 5-10 lbs heavier and I'm sucking in my stomach to fit into a pair of 34 inch jeans (some years, the 36's are even tight).

This year, I:
  • Went from a starting weight of 212 lbs to a very comfortable weight of 196-198 lbs, and
  • Went from squeezing out of the 34 inch pants to fitting into 32 inch pants for the first time in years.

I am literally in the best shape that I have been in the last 4 to 5 years. And I did it through the holidays. And I did it without really trying.

How did I do it? I found a way to eat that was painless. It was a combination of what I have to say is the greatest meal delivery service in existence and adding a couple of new found products into the mix.

Here is what my exact days look like:

Wake-up (around 4 AM) and have 1 serving of Atheltic Greens mixed in water.

Breakfast: (around 5 AM) This varies from day to day, but with the Personal Trainer Food option, I don't sacrifice taste. Some mornings it's a western omlette. Other mornings it's egg whites and an all beef sausage. Yet others it's a cheddar omlette made with lower fat cheese and an all beef maple sausage. The portions are all measured out and it's delicious! Just slap it in the microwave for 1 minute and I'm ready to go.
Extra Supplements taken with Breakfast: 1000 mg Vitamin C, 2 Omega Caps, and one Vitamin D3 cap.

Mid-morning Snack (about 2-3 hours later): 1 serving of protein powder or meal replacement shake mixed in water. I mix the brands up that I use monthly, but I try to stay between 200 and 300 calories with 30-40 grams of protein. Some of my favorite products are made by Labrada Nutrition.

Late Morning Snack (about 2 hours later): 1 and a half - 2 ounces of almonds

Lunch (around 12:30 PM): Again this varies with my Personal Trainer Food option. It's always some form of animal meat and vegetables. Some of my favorite options are teryaki chicken, angus beef, turkey meatballs, grilled herbed chicken, buffalo chicken sticks, chicen and apple sausage, and brisket. I accompany any one of those with a variety of mixed vegetables. Again, all pre-portioned out. Slap it in the microwave for 2 minutes and it's chow time.
Extra Supplements taken with Lunch: 1000 mg Vitamin C and 2 Omega Caps

Mid-afternoon Snack (usually between 3:30 and 4 PM): 1 Quest Bar. These bars are fantastic. Each has at least 20 grams of protein, is low in sugar, comes in around 200 calories each, and has a ton of fiber. In fact, there are only about 6-8 total ingredients in these bars and they are all natural. There isn't an ingredient on them you won't be able to recognize. Try that with most bars. Did I metion they come in a variety of flavors and I love them all!

Late afternoon Snack or Post-workout (around 6:30 PM): Another shake (same as mid-morning snack).

Dinner (between 7:30 and 8:30 PM): Meal options as well as the supplements I take are the same as lunch.

That's it. Between the Personal Trainer Food meal delivery system, the Quest Bars, and my Meal Replacement Shakes, I kept my body fed with quality nutrients, kept my protein intake high, kept carbs and sugars levels under control, and I was never hungry.

Believe me, I wasn't trying to lose weight when I started. I went to all the parties like I have in years past. I celebrated and ate the bad foods while there, just like other years. What I did do this year was I didn't miss any workouts AND I didn't let those party foods leak into my world on any other days of the week.

End result...I'm in the best shape I have been in in years and I don't have any New Year's Resolutions.

Hope you enjoyed the Holiday Season...and Happy New Year!
