Record Keeping and Portion Sizes
Posted February 20, 2010
To reach your body composition goals, it is important to know what and when you eat.
If nutrients are available at the proper times and in proper quantities, your body will be able to use them efficiently for energy, blood sugar regulation and tissue growth and repair. The nutrients must include proper amounts of protein, carbs, and fat.
Under eating and over eating may cause muscle loss or fat gain.
In order to reach your goal, you must be aware of the amount of food you eat. You need to take note of how food makes you feel physically, what foods you eat most, how fast you eat, when, why and who you eat with. These are all important factors in determining eating habits.
Accurately recording your eating habits will help determine how your plan should be altered if you hit a plateau. Your records also help monitor the effectiveness of your efforts.
Start weighing your food. Going above on your portion sizes a little here and there will add up. It will quickly take you out of your recommended calorie intake and prevent you from reaching your fitness goals. You can get a food scale at any local Walmart. It is in the aisle with the spatulas.
NO EXCUSES!!
Weigh your food for a couple of weeks and you will get a feel of it and be able to eye it.
