The Worst News Yet About Low Fat Diets?
December 23, 2010
Remember back in the 90's when low-fat was the craze? People were filling their shopping cart with all sorts of low-fat cookies and cakes not realizing the fat had simply been replaced with sugar.
There is evidence that if you replace that fat with carbohydrates that you may actually be increasing your risk for heart disease.
Years ago the recommendation to reduce your saturated fat intake was because it was believed that consumption of saturated fat increased your risk for cardiovascular disease. Further research has proven that to not necessarily be true and when you replace the fat with carbohydrates you increase your risk.
Fat gets a really bad rap. And it really doesn't deserve it. Focusing on a balanced approach is the way to go for long term health.
